The Mansfield Lions Club serves the town of Mansfield and the University of Connecticut. It is great to be a Lion.
Club History
There was a lot of excitement in Connecticut Lionism in the spring of 1952. That excitement was in anticipation ok Charter Night for the states 100th Lions Club - the Storrs Lions Club - at the University of Connecticut on May 10, 1952. Honored participants included Senator William Benson, Congressman Horace Seeley-Brown,University President Albert N. Jorgensen, Director of Lions International Curtis Lovell, Governor J. Sidney Wakely of District 23A, Governor T. Joseph Puza of District 23C. The 100th Charter Night Banquet and official ceremonies took place at the University, followed by dance and additional celebration at the Nathan Hale Hotel in Willimantic. The club's name was change to Mansfield Lions Club on February 25, 1959 to better define the broad-based community area being served.
